A Young Adult Supernatural Fantasy Series
BENNY THORNE
He can hear everything. Someone is listening back.

Book One — The Humming
Benny Thorne can hear everything. It starts small — a neighbor’s alarm code through the bedroom wall, his grandma humming three rooms away. Then it gets bigger. Louder. Until the whole world is turned up too far and Benny can’t turn it down. The new girl, Ava Quinn, knows exactly what’s happening to him. She can do things too — bigger things. And she’s scared, because in her experience, what’s waking up in Benny isn’t supposed to start for years. Someone else has noticed. The Tanners — the richest, coldest family in town — are watching him. They tried asking nicely. They’ve stopped asking. With Ava’s help, Benny starts learning to survive what he is: the river, the stillness, the closed door. But every lesson pulls him deeper into the questions no one will answer — what happened to his mother, where his father went, and what the second heartbeat under the hum is waiting for.
Book Two — The Glimpse
Benny Thorne is dreaming someone else’s memories. It starts with a glimpse — half a second ahead, a library aisle, a crash that hasn’t happened yet. Then the visions get stronger. Clearer. And Benny realizes he’s not seeing the future. He’s seeing Thursday night — and what happens in the library after hours will change everything. The town’s sweet librarian has been hiding something for a year. A tin box sealed in a wall since 1911. Seven family names the town chose to forget. And underneath the library, something enormous is breathing in the dark — something that’s been waiting for Benny. With Ava’s hand on his wrist and his friends watching his back, Benny has to do what his family has done for a hundred years: keep the sleeper dreaming. But the librarian is sure he’s coming to wake it. And she’s been waiting even longer than he has.
The Push
Benny’s newest power is the first one he can’t hide — telekinesis, raw and strong, and it surges every time he’s near the friend he trusts most. Something is rotting the group’s safe place from the inside, and Benny has to hold on to his friends, his power, and the sleeper under the library all at once.

Meet the Club
Benny Thorne
Fourteen, raised by his grandparents in Mentor, Ohio. His hearing woke up first — then the glimpses, then the push. His family’s oldest job is his now: keep the sleeper under the library dreaming.
Ava Quinn
The new girl who knew what was happening to Benny before he did. Ava’s powers came earlier and run stronger — and she’s the anchor who can pull Benny back when his surge.
Bobby
Benny’s best friend. No powers at all — just the funniest kid in any room, and the first one through the door when it matters.
Lily Hayes
Bobby’s little sister — a year younger and usually the smartest person in the room. Lily carries the spark too, keeps the notes on everything, and gets the group out of tight spots.
Not Magic. Something Older.
Nobody waves a wand in Mentor. Benny’s gifts are supernatural, not magical — his family calls it waking up. First the hearing, until the whole world is turned up too far. Then the glimpses: half-second flashes of moments that haven’t happened yet. Then the push. Every power arrives years early, arrives strong, and arrives with a cost. And underneath the town library, something enormous is sleeping — and Benny Thorne is its keeper.
Read the Opening — The Humming, Chapter One
The thing about running from Brock Tanner was that you never got a head start. You got a head start the way a mouse gets a head start from a cat — technically true, spiritually meaningless. Benny’s lungs were on fire by the second block… They weren’t going to make it to Bobby’s house. Benny could feel it the way you feel rain coming, a pressure change in his chest. “Bobby—” he started. And then the world turned up. It wasn’t gradual. It was like somebody found the volume knob on everything and cranked it all the way right.

For Parents & Teachers
Readers about 11 and up. Benny is thirteen in Book One and fourteen in Book Two; the books grow with him.
There are tense moments, bullies, and something ancient sleeping under the library — but the heart of the series is courage, friendship, and family. There is no graphic violence and no horror gore.
No spells, wands, or magic schools. Benny’s abilities are supernatural — hearing, glimpses, telekinesis — treated as a dangerous inheritance, not a game.
Each book tells a complete story, but the series builds book to book, so starting with The Humming is best.
Themes include grief (Benny’s mother died when he was two), loyalty, and standing up to bullies without superpowers. Handled gently, with humor throughout.
Book Three Is Coming
